This may be of interest to your group, my great-great grandfather was a younger brother of Gomer Thomas (sons of Thomas Thomas ironmonger in Merthyr in the 19th century development of the town) and can lay claim to being the first Welsh International player from Merthyr.I inherited his football shirt from my late father and have loaned this the the World Rugby Museum who are researching and displaying it with their early rugby memorabilia.
