Master Reggie Gibbs, harpist:
Reginald Gibbs (1921-1999) was born in Merthyr the son of Alladin Gibbs and Elizabeth Beynon, an accomplished harpist from an early age he studied music in London becoming a professional harpist performing with prestigious orchestras as well as being a regular performer on BBC radio programmes. His father, Alladin (1874-1939) was also a boy harpist who entertained Merthyr audiences throughout his life, he was for a time the landlord of the Rose and Crown, Morgan Street, and later the Brecon House Inn, Brecon Road. Similar to his son, Reginald, Alladin also competed as a boy harpist at the National Eisteddfod.
