It’s touching that, while reporting her marriage to Schreiber, the ‘Monmouthshire Merlin ‘ should also draw attention to Lady Charlotte’s social initiatives in Dowlais. In later years, she would turn her attention to fine china and built up a remarkable collection of ceramics. Caroline McCaffrey-Howarth’s book, ‘Lady Charlotte Schreiber – Extraordinary Art Collector’ which deals with this phase of her life, is coming out in September 2025, published by Lund Humphries.
