Last year, I posted a polite request asking people not to post articles from the this blog on Facebook without checking the copyright first.
Unfortunately, one person has continued to copy articles from here onto Facebook, and despite me contacting him directly and asking him, very politely to check with me first re copyright, he ignored my messages and continued to post copyrighted material.
This has now resulted with this blog being threatened with legal action. As a result, and with much sadness, I have no alternative but to close this blog. This will be happening over the next week or so.
I am sorry that it all has to end like this, but there is always someone who has to spoil other people’s enjoyment.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this blog over the years, and also to everyone who has read and enjoyed the articles.
It has been a pleasure to work on the blog, and I will be sorry to see it go, but as they say, all good things must come to and end.

That is such a shame. This has been such an important resource especially for me and the theatre company I work for. It was this site that initiated my contact with Cuthbert Taylor’s family, research and subsequent play about Cuthbert Taylor. This has resulted in thousands of children petitioning the British Boxing Board of Control for an apology. Cuthbert’s story being covered in The Guardian and BBC4 Front Row
So without this site fewer people would know of the invaluable contribution Merthyr and its people have has on the world and society.
The big question- what’s your next venture?

That is very sad – and this person should be named and shamed for spoiling what so many of us have enjoyed. I only got back to Merthyr in 2019 although I followed it when I was still living in Suffolk, and have since been far less mobile, so I have really enjoyed your blog and some times contributing to it. Thank you so much for your efforts, and all best wishes.
